Broad and powerful, with a firm underlying structure that allows the lemon, toast and baking spices to take center stage, followed by an excellent finish. Nonetheless, this is balanced toward the structure now, needing time to reveal its full potential. (BS) - WS

A textbook Pucelles nose of honeysuckle and citrus is trimmed in a discreet application of oak and a trace of exotic fruit, neither of which continue over to the delicious, round and quite generous medium-bodied flavors that possess excellent depth on the focused and unusually powerful finish. There is an ample amount of underlying tension that adds relief to the otherwise densely concentrated dry exact. This is quite simply terrific and while there is good power, the '08 Pucelles remains a wine of finesse. - BH

Pale, bright medium yellow. Ripe peach, minerals, flowers and a whiff of honey on the nose, lifted by spicy and peppery nuances. Concentrated and densely packed, with lemon and lime fruit flavors framed and lifted by minerals and spices. This nicely juicy wine finishes with noteworthy aromatic lift. Showing a light touch in the context of this set. I may be underestimating this. - VM

The 2008 Pucelles was very closed and reserved, but with great underlying elements that promise a profound glass of wine down the road. The superb nose offers up scents of lemon, orange, fresh pear, beautiful, chalky soil tones, vanillin oak and a pungent topnote of lemon blossoms. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and tightly-knit, with great mid-palate depth, superb focus and great length and grip on the zesty and reserved finish. This will be just a classic vintage of Leflaive Pucelles. - JG
